■ BURKINA FASO: Ouagadougou calls for talks with AKFED over Air Burkina's future.
The Government of Burkina Faso, in its most recent Council of Ministers meeting held in late July, has resolved to hold talks with the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED) & Industrial Promotion Services (IPS), the majority shareholder in Air Burkina (2J), regarding its future.

► MALI: Air Mali tests the waters by operating its CRJ200 and MD87 on behalf of sister carrier, Air Burkina.
As the political situation in Mali begins to settle down, so Celestair Group's Malian subsidiary, Air Mali (I5), has taken its first steps towards resuming operations by dusting off its stored Bombardier CRJ200 (MSN 7392 | TZ-RCA) kept until recently in France.

► SENEGAL: Air Cote d'Ivoire to debut with Dakar on 12 November.
Following last week's deferment, made public by Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara, Air Cote d'Ivoire (HF) has announced it will launch scheduled flights on 12 November with Abidjan - Dakar, Senegal to be its launch route.

► MALI: Air Mali struggling as civil unrest severely disrupts operations.
Celestair Group's Air Mali (I5) has been forced to suspend a number of its flights as a result of the ongoing civil unrest in the Maghreb country, which has been raging since January 2012 and has seen the near partition of the country into two regions: the more conservative Islamic partition of Azawad in the north and Mali itself in the south.

► BURKINA FASO: Air Burkina signs code-share with Air France.
Air Burkina (2J), the Burkinabe regional airline, is to extend its coverage to include France, with the recent signing of a code sharing agreement with Air France.
Effective 1 June, Air France has been allocating Air Burkina an unspecified number of
seats on Air France's daily flight between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Ouagadougou that is operated by either an Airbus A330 or A340.

It offers an additional illustration of Air France’s strategy in Africa, aiming to work with local partners. Our ultimate ambition is to offer our customers new regional destinations operated by Air Burkina”. "

Currently, Air Burkina flies to 11 cities around West Africa and will provide KLM/Air France with an important foothold into the fast growing West African aviation scene and is a development which KLM/Air France hopes to implement on other routes in West and Central Africa as well as in France and Europe.
