Transaero had originally announced the launch of direct flights from the end of October, with a flight every ten days and two flights per week during the peak season, though none of those flights currently reflects on the GDS.

A recent meeting in Moscow between Olga Pleshakova, Transaero Airlines CEO, and Mrs Indira Savitree Thacoor-Sidaya, the Mauritian Ambassador to the Russian Federation touched on "issues" regarding air services between Russia and the Indian ocean island in relation to Transaero’s scheduled flights to Mauritius, launched in 2009.

Air Mauritius (MK) has also reportedly been eyeing its own dedicated route to Russia.
