The Board of Directors of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced that its outgoing Managing Director, Engineer Stephen Gichuki, will go on his
terminal leave until the expiration of his contract on October 23.

In a statement, the KAA said the Board has decided to follow due process in the recruitment of a new managing director and will advertise for the position over the next few days.
Some sections of the Kenyan aviation media point to Eng Gichuki being the first head to roll as a result of last week's catastrophic fire at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport which severely affected operations and is said to have cost national carrier, Kenya Airways (KQ), at least USD4million in losses.
In the interim, while a new permanent MD is found, the Board has appointed Ms Lucy Mbugua as acting Managing Director.
