► SOMALIA: Presidential jet develops engine problems after take off for Juba; returns safely BUT..

A plane, an unconfirmed DC9-10 (MSN 45740 | 5Y-SAX) belonging to Kenya's FlySAX (B5), carrying Somalia’s president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, to Juba, South Sudan was yesterday forced to make an emergency landing at Mogadishu's Aden Adde International Airport after developing engine trouble shortly after takeoff, Radio Mogadishu has reported.

According to press reports, the aircraft took off at 09h10L and was airborne for twenty minutes before being forced to turn back. After a safe landing, the aircraft was evacuated.

The press was instructed not to take photos by the presidential media escort.

The President then took a Fokker 50 (unknown registration) to Juba.

Most disturbingly, Al Shabaab, the savage terrorist Islamist organization, was among the first to tweet about the incident leading to some speculation about its involvement, though this has since been dismissed.

The day also marked the inaugural Air Uganda (U7) Entebbe - Mogadishu flight which landed in the Somali capital at just after 08h00L.
