British Airways (BA) will increase its frequencies to the West African countries of Liberia and Sierra Leone to four weekly on the back of rising demand, the airline has stated.

In a statement issued, BA said the new Friday evening Heathrow inbound flights would add 33% more capacity between Freetown, Monrovia and London and would permit same day connections to the US.
Beginning October 31, the extra west African flight from Heathrow to Freetown and Monrovia will operate on Friday from 0625 using a Boeing 767 with three cabins: economy, premium economy and Club World. The route was only launched in November 2012.

“The flight will arrive at Terminal 5 on Friday evening, allowing same-day connections to Washington, saving the need for an overnight transit and visa,” the statement said.

The General Manager for BA Africa and Europe, Gavin Halliday, was quoted as saying, “It is unusual to add more flights so soon after starting a new route, but we're responding to strong demand in these fast-growing West-African economies."
