According to the Financial Gazette, among the five candidates shortlisted are incumbent Air Zimbabwe CEO, Innocent Mavhunga, Grace Pfumbidzai, Air Zimbabwe's legal manager and company secretary, an unnamed Zimbabwean national based in Namibia, and two others whose identities and origins have not been revealed.
It is also claimed that AFRAA boss, Dr Elijah Chingosho, who had been handpicked by Zimbabwean Minister of Transport, Nicholas Goche, was not chosen "for fear of antagonising the airline’s board, which is advocating for a transparent approach to the appointment."

UM's chairman, Ozias Bvute, said announcement would be made before month's end, but that any board recommendation would still have to be green-lighted by the carrier's principle shareholder, the Zimbabwean Government.
“We still have to present these names to the shareholders before the (CEO) is formally announced,” said Bvute.
