South Africa's National Airways Corporation (NAC) has announced the acquisition of 100% of the shares held in Placo, South Africa's Piper dealership, from Jeffery A Earle and Laurence M Nestadt.
According to Airnews, whilst Placo (Pty) Limited has grown from the Pretoria Light Aircraft Company, it has been struggling in recent years despite having a decent reputation as a parts business.
"Having been the longest serving Piper dealer in the world until we took over the Piper franchise, there is a loyal Piper customer base for us to work with. We intend to improve the service offering and re-establish a solid Piper Service Centre. Placo will continue to operate at Rand, Lanseria and Wonderboom airports."

Placo had catered to the southern Africa, including the Indian Ocean, markets with their core core business being the importation and sale of new and pre owned aircraft as well as the service and supply of aircraft and aircraft parts.
NAC says it that it intends to reestablish a parts dealerships and a
dormant propeller shop as part of its takeover plans, which will see
Chris Boshoff as General Manager.
