► ZAMBIA: Mukuba Airlines outlines its planned domestic route network.

ZambiaZambia's first LCC, Mukuba Airlines, set to be operate out of the Victoria Falls town of Livingstone, has outlined its intended route network with flights set to range in cost from USD35 to USD50.

Speaking to South Africa's Tourism Update, Mukuba Airlines CEO Mwansa Chalwe said his carrier was in the process of acquiring its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) from the Zambian Department of Civil Aviation having already obtained its Air Service Permit (ASP) from the Ministry of Transport.

Commercial director, Phiri Davies said, using a mixed fleet of three ATR42-500s and ATR72-500s, Mukuba plans to operate exclusively domestic flights out of Livingstone:
....the primary focus will be on domestic routes between Livingstone, Lusaka, Ndola, Mfuwe, Chipata, Mansa and Solwezi. “We hope to cover all the provincial centres of Zambia depending on the works being done on the airports in Zambia, like Kasaba Bay on Lake Tanganyika. Eventually we will do regional routes after we establish our market base.

The airline is expected to conduct all its bookings online.

Mukuba, backed by unnamed foreign investors, Zambian aviation professionals based overseas and local Zambian business men, expects to start operations before the upcoming UNWTO AGM set for August in the town of Livingstone.
