The new digital system, the ATS Message Handling System (AMHS), is expected to be installed before the end of  fiscal year 2012/2013 said TCAA Director General, Mr Fadhili Manongi.

He did not reveal who had been contracted to install the system, though a run down of contracts awarded in the last year points to France's Egis Avia.

ATS Message Handling System (AMHS) also known as Aeronautical Message Handling System is a standard for aeronautical ground-ground communications (e.g. for the transmission of NOTAMs, Flight Plans or Meteorological Data) and has been defined by the ICAO.

Mr Manongi was giving a briefing in Dar es Salaam to a delegation from Parliamentary Communications and Transport Committee from the House of Representatives of Zanzibar.
