■ SOUTH AFRICA: FlightSafety International selects National Airways Corp. as P&W Maintenance Training Centre.

FlightSafety International, a global aviation training company, has selected Lanseria, Johannesburg-based National Airways Corporation (NAC) to be a FlightSafety Maintenance Training Centre through which the organization will now offer training for Pratt & Whitney Canada engines in South Africa and the surrounding region.

 

FlightSafety is the Recognized Training Provider for the Pratt & Whitney Canada engines including the PT6A, B, C, and T series, PW100/150 series, PW206/207 series, PW210 series, PW300 series, PW500 series, PW600 series, and JT15D series.

“We are pleased that NAC has become a provider of FlightSafety’s comprehensive, high quality maintenance training courses,” said Mike Lee, Director, Business Development Maintenance Training. “Technicians who maintain and support Pratt & Whitney Canada engines in South Africa and the neighbouring countries will benefit from the in-depth classroom and hands-on practical technology-based training curriculum that FlightSafety will provide through this agreement with NAC.”

Under the partnership, FlightSafety will provide NAC with courseware and MATRIX training equipment that includes a Graphical FlightDeck simulator, Desktop simulator for classroom instruction, training engines, and specialist tools. NAC instructors will be trained and qualified by FlightSafety, and will also receive approval from aviation regulatory agencies as required. Through this agreement NAC on behalf of FlightSafety will begin with an initial offering of “Line and Base” courses for maintenance training on the PT6A, and PW100 series of Pratt & Whitney Canada engines.

NAC was established in 1946 and has grown to become the largest general aviation company in Africa. It offers a full range of aviation services and products to the fixed wing and helicopter markets.
