Quoting Rwandair CEO John Mirenge, RwandanFlyer blog says the first ex-TUIfly (X3) aircraft (MSN: 30717 | 9XR-WJ) will touch down in Kigali in two weeks time.
The aircraft will replace WB's two Boeing 737-500s whose leases from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) expire in May and July respectively. In January Rwandair said the phasing out of Boeing 737-500s in favour of the larger, more economical Boeing 737-700, came about due to rising demand and fuel costs that had consequently forced the airline to reconsider its fleet options.
