► NIGERIA: AeroContractors resumes operations today.

As previously reported, Nigeria's second largest airline, AeroContractors (AJ), will resume flights effective today, 29 March bringing to an end, a strike that had lasted 20 days. Dana Air (9J) however, remains grounded despite being given the go ahead by government to resume operations nearly 2 weeks ago.

The Nigerian Senate, however, has issued a directive to Aero to withdraw the 650 dismissal letters issued to members of staff of the airline at the beginning of the strike.

The airline says it had recalled "three hundred of the dismissed staff", but the Chairman of the Committee on Aviation, Senator Hope Uzodimma, maintains that the workers should not have been dismissed in the first place.
