► MOZAMBIQUE: LAM Mozambique looks to boost capacity by 20% this through development of Nampula, Tete routes.

LAM Mozambique AirlinesLAM - Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (TM), Mozambique's national carrier is looking to boost its seats-available by 20% on 2012, to 700'000, through the exploitation of the growing domestic market to both Tete and Nampula in the northern part of the country.

LAM's CEO, Marlene Manave, said this growth is to be supported by operations in Tete in central Mozambique and Nampula in the north, where there is large scale ongoing extraction of coal as well as gas prospecting,
"We are aiming to make 33'000 seats available to the market with discounts of up to 65 percent as a way to stimulate the development of domestic traffic," she said.

Ms. Manave added that LAM was also looking to increase its regional and international footprint by way of code-share agreements with Air Zimbabwe (UM) and Qatar Airways (QR) as well as signing agreements with various undisclosed North American agencies.

In 2012, the carrier registered a 10% increase in revenue inflows buoyed by a 9% growth in traffic volume coupled with 75% average occupancy rates.
