Rwandan aviation blog, Rwandan-Flyer, reports that Tanzanian private carrier and interim flag carrier, Precision Air (PW), is planning a big regional expansion programme in the coming months with new services to Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, Angola and Mozambique to be added by 2016.
One of Africa's few homegrown aviation success stories, Precision Air,
established in 1993, started operations in 1994 as a crop sprayer before
expanding into the passenger and tourist market with scheduled
operations beginning in November 1999. Since then, a variety of loans and an IPO have helped the carrier grow from strength to strength.
To aide in its network expansion, Precision Air ordered five brand new -600 series ATR aircraft (i.e. 4 ATR 42-600s and 1 ATR 72-600) in December 2011, the first of which was officially delivered in November last year. The aircraft are to be used as part of the airline's plans to dramatically expand its network both domestically and regionally.

According to Aviation Business Journal, PW intends to service the following routes by 2016:
- Dar es Salaam - Entebbe - Juba
- Dar es Salaam - Kigali - Bujumbura - Dar es Salaam
- Dar es Salaam - Lubumbashi (DRC) - Luanda
- Dar es Salaam - Pemba - Nampula (Mozambique) (Currently a code-share with LAM Mozambique Airlines)

Precision Air plans to spend USD90million over the next 3
years on upgrading its fleet, which should eventually see the airline launch flights to Europe, the Middle East and Asia in the next five years.
