► GABON: Trans Air Congo applies for 5th Freedom flights out of Libreville.

Trans Air CongoCongo (Brazzaville)-based regional carrier Trans Air Congo (Q8) has applied for rights to operate 5th freedom flights out of the Gabonese capital, Libreville, according to the country's national aviation authority L'Agence Nationale de l’Aviation Civile du Gabon (ANAC).

In preparation for the (possible) launch of flights, the Pointe-Noire carrier is understood to have undergone a general audit between 15 - 17 January in which ANAC Gabon inspectors scrutinized the airline's organization, flight operations and aircraft airworthiness. No mention on the outcome as yet has been made public.

Trans Air Congo was established in 1994 and has agreements with South African Airways (SA) and Air France (AF). Its fleet consists of 3 Boeing 737-300, two Boeing 737-200 and two Embraer 120 which it operates both domestically and regionally to Douala, Libreville and Cotonou.
