►► ETHIOPIA: ASKY Airlines now codesharing with Ethiopian on the latter's West Africa, Brazil flights.

Ethiopian Airlines[UPDATE 26 FEBRUARY] Ethiopian Airlines (ET) and its West African subsidiary ASKY Airlines (KP) have expanded their code-sharing agreement to now cover the majority of Ethiopian's routes between Ethiopia and West Africa with Nigeria, Senegal, Mali, Benin, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Togo and Burkina Faso now operating with an ASKY IATA code (KP).

Curiously, no mention of any codesharing or direct flights to the Nigerien capital, Niamey, has been made, despite the signing of a renewed BASA with Ethiopia in late December 2012.

Codeshare routes include the following:
  • Addis Ababa – Abuja
  • Addis Ababa – Bamako – Dakar
  • Addis Ababa – Cotonou – Abidjan
  • Addis Ababa – Douala – Malabo – Addis Ababa
  • Addis Ababa – Lome
  • Addis Ababa – Malabo – Douala – Addis Ababa
  • Addis Ababa – Ouagadougou – Abidjan

[UPDATE 26 FEBRUARY] AirlineRoute reports that ASKY Airlines starting 01JUN13 will begin codeshare service with Ethiopian Airlines on the latter’s new service to Brazil. Asky’s “KP” code will appear on ET’s 3 weekly Lome – Rio de Janeiro – Sao Paulo – Lome routing, on board ET 767-300ER.
