Emirates (EK) today announced it will operate a one-off Airbus A380 service to Port Louis, Mauritius on 12 March to mark the occasion of the 45th Anniversary of Mauritius' independence from Britain.

The special flight, EK701, is expected to arrive in Mauritius at 09h40L
on March 12, with VIPs and foreign journalists invited for the
occasion. The return flight EK702 will take off at 23h20L the same day.

A statement issued by the airline read:
"The A380 is the flagship of the Emirates fleet. This special flight is our way of contributing to the official celebrations of the country's independence," said Ahmed Khoory, Senior Vice President - Commercial Operations, West Asia & Indian Ocean at Emirates.
