■ KENYA: Hunt on for new Kenya Airways' Commercial Director after Mohan Chandra's contract is not renewed.

Kenya AirwaysKenya Airways (KQ) has appointed its Head of Network Planning, Jimmy Kebati, as its interim Commercial Director, after previous director, Mohan Chandra's contract was not renewed upon its expiration on 18 January.

Chandra's departure comes at a difficult time for the Kenyan national carrier who in November 2012 issued a profit warning after taking a USD55million hit for H1 (First Half) of its 2012/2013 Financial Year.

Kenya Airways' head of communication Chris Karanja confirmed Mr Chandra’s exit, while a different source said: “Both parties agreed to mutually end the contract.” The source added: “Being the commercial director, he was the one responsible for the selling.
 
Chandra joined Kenya Airways on 1st August 2009 prior to which, he had worked as Aviation Advisor and Chief Operating Officer for Emirates Post Group.
