Amidst a turbulent political climate, Karinou Airlines (KRN), formerly Africa Airlines, has outlined plans to launch scheduled regional operations out of Bangui, capital of the Central African Republic, possibly in early January.

Having previously plied domestic charter routes, the Lebanese-owned carrier is said to have a capital base of USD100million (XAF50billion) which it will use in the launch of the following routes:
- Bangui - Ndjamena - Douala - Cotonou,
- Bangui - Douala - Pointe Noire - Kinshasa,
- Bangui - Kinshasa - Douala - Cotonou,
- Bangui - Ndjamena - Yaounde - Malabo.
