China Eastern Airlines (MU), China's second biggest carrier by market value, and Kenya Airways (KQ), the flag carrier of Kenya, have signed a code.share deal which will see cooperation on MU's China - Thailand route and KQ's Thailand - Kenya routes, effective 1 December 2012.
According to the agreement, China Eastern and Kenya Airways are to codeshare on the daily Shanghai Pudong-Bangkok route operated by China Eastern, and the daily Bangkok-Nairobi route operated by Kenya Airways.
"Kenya Airways seeks to strengthen its presence in China by offering better connection options to its passengers from Africa and our association with China Eastern Airlines gives us an opportunity to offer our customers a seamless connection to and from China," Kenya Airways CEO Dr. Titus Naikuni said in a statement issued in Nairobi.
Kenya Airways recently signed a variety of similar code share deals with Korean Air (KE), Saudia(SV), and of late, Vietnam Airlines (VN).
