Also on 12 November, codeshare flights with Air Burkina (2J), using Air Burkina equipment, will commence with daily flights between the two West African capitals on offer.
Domestic flights will only recommence during the first half of 2013, as, according to Ivorian Minister of Transport, Gaoussou Touré, there is need to improve infrastructure at local airfields and aerodromes before commercial flights can resume.
According to French newswire, Air Journal, Abdoulaye Coulibaly, president of Air Cote d'Ivoire and Aeria, the company operating Abidjan's Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport, announced an investment of USD20million (XFA10billion) by the Ivorian Government, which will, come 2015, see the renovation and expansion of the airport with a new Hajj Charter terminal and extra air-bridges (the airport has two) to be constructed.
