Libyan carrier, Afriqiyah (8U), have announced via their official twitter account that their next aircraft to arrive in November, will arrive in the carrier's new colours; "the infamous 9s finally being removed." No previews of the new colour scheme have been revealed, though it is said to be "independence flag related."
The airline’s current livery features a "9.9.99" logo on the tail and engines,
which mark the date (9 September 1999) when the Sirte Declaration, which established the African Union, was signed in Sirte, Libya under the then Gaddhafi regime.
The black background
represents the African continent.

As mentioned in a previous post here on The African Aviation Tribune, given Africa's majority support for the Gaddhafi regime during the Libyan Civil War of 2011, it is no wonder that the current government in Tripoli has turned a cold shoulder to the continent economically and politically.
