► NAMIBIA: Air Namibia announces numerous changes to its timetable from October onwards.

As part of their strategy of efficient utilisation of their aircraft, Namibian carrier Air Namibia (SW) have again announced various changes to both their regional and international network, effective from October 2012 (the precise dates are subject to each individual post).

Amongst the changes are an increase in flights from Windhoek, Namibia to Luanda, Angola from 5x to 6x weekly, a reduction in frequency on the Windhoek - Maun (Botswana) - Victoria falls (Zimbabwe) route from daily to 4x weekly from October 2012 to March 2013 due to lower tourist demand at that time, and for the period 19 to 25 November 2012, the switching of Windhoek - Frankfurt, Germany flights to daytime flights for reasons of aircraft maintenance.

Unless stated otherwise, changes made are effective 1 October 2012.

• Windhoek - Walvis Bay, Namibia  will be a once daily flight only. On Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays the flights will operate in the afternoon, whilst on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays they will operate in the morning.

• Walvis Bay – Cape Town, South Africa will operate via Windhoek, therefore flights SW748 and SW749 are removed from the schedule effective 28 October 2012 onwards.
• Windhoek - Gaborone, Botswana will switch from Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays to Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays; all flights to operate in the morning.

• Lusaka, Zambia - Windhoek, on Fridays and Sundays, will switch to an afternoon/evening departure.

• Windhoek - Luanda, Angola will increase from five to six weekly flights with a new Saturday frequency, effective 28 October 2012.

• Windhoek - Frankfurt, Germany departure time is to change from 21:05 to 21:45, and consequently, the arrival time in FRA is to change from 07:00 to 06:55 (Europe Winter time change). The Frankfurt -Windhoek departure time is to remain at 18:10 UTC but due to time change in Europe; the local time in Frankfurt is to change from 20:10 to 19:10.  This is effective 28 October 2012 onwards.

• Windhoek - Frankfurt, Germany one of Air Namibia's Airbus A340-300s is to undergo a mandatory maintenance check from 19 November 2012 to 26 November 2012 in Frankfurt, and as a result, their schedule will change as follows: All flight departures from Windhoek to Frankfurt (SW285) from 19 November 2012 to 25 November 2012 will change to 12 hours earlier, i.e. 08:10 a.m. (local). All passengers will automatically be rebooked on the day flights SW285 operating on the same day as their initial bookings during the period
