► EGYPT: Egyptair officially announces Roshdy Zakaria as its new Boss.

EgyptairEgyptian carrier Egyptair (MS) today officially announced the appointment of Roshdy Zakaria, the airline's former deputy Vice President of Flight Operations, as their new Chairman and CEO.

Zakaria has spent much of his 30 year career with Egyptair where he has held various positions, including that of chief pilot examiner and instructor on the Airbus A300B4 and the Boeing 767/777.

The new Boss has already been at the post for some time, having had a baptism of fire in early September when he was forced to deal with a strike by Egyptair's flight attendants over pay and dress-codes; a strike that ultimately cost the airline between "USD20-30 million."

In its statement, Egyptair did not elaborate as to why the decision to replace former Chairman and CEO Hossam Kamal, who was only appointed in December of last year, with Zakaria, had been taken.
