► NAMIBIA: Air Namibia announces sweeping changes to its African network.

As part of its efforts to rationalize its capacity and quality of service, Namibian flag carrier Air Namibia (SW) has announced various route changes to its Africa route network effective 5 August 2012.

Air Namibia's Route Network

According to Air Namibia, the following changes will occur:

• Windhoek - Ondangwa, Namibia will increase from 1 to 2 flights on Saturdays.
• Windhoek - Accra, Ghana will reduce from 5x weekly to 3x weekly.

• Walvis Bay - Cape Town, South Africa will now operate via Windhoek.
• Windhoek - Cape Town, South Africa will reduce from 4x to 3x daily flights.
• Windhoek - Gaborone, Botswana will remain at 3x per week, but operation days will switch to Fridays, Sundays and Tuesdays.
• Windhoek - Johannesburg, South Africa will remain at 3x daily, but one of the rotations will be operated with an Embraer ERJ 135 Regional Jets, while the other two operate using a Airbus A319-100 and a Boeing B737-500.
• Windhoek - Lusaka, Zambia will operate using Embraer ERJ 135 Jets exclusively. The Boeing B737-500, currently used on Tuesdays, will be removed from this route.
