Starting late last month, Afriqiyah introduced a 2x weekly service to Amman ex Tripoli, with Benghazi also seeing a 2x weekly service to the Jordanian capital. The Jordan flights follow on from 2 other new routes that Afriqiyah also recently started on 3 May 2012: two weekly flights from Tripoli and two from Benghazi to Alexandria’s Borj El Arab International Airport.

In other Afriqiyah related news, the airline has also reached an agreement with most of the families of the victims of Afriqiyah flight 8U 771 which crashed just short of Tripoli Airport, en route from Johannesburg, South Africa, in May 2010.

There was only 1 survivor out of 104 souls on board: a 9-year-old Dutch boy named Ruben van Assouw.
"Lawyers of the victims’ relatives and those representing the airline have confirmed the news. The total amount that the relatives of the 70 Dutch passengers on board the plane will receive has not been disclosed.

Relatives of more than 60 of the 70 Dutch victims have reached an agreement regarding damages. The agreements reached so far are broad outlines and the specific details have yet to be worked out."
