► TANZANIA: Air Tanzania's mysterious B737 fails to pitch up - again.

Air TanzaniaFollowing on from our initial report, Air Tanzania were indeed lined up at Dar es Salaam on Thursday, and when that failed to happen, again today to receive their Boeing 737-500 wet leased from Aerovista of Dubai.

"ATCL said on Wednesday that experts from Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority had completed inspection of the plane in Cairo and the aircraft was expected to be flown to the country yesterday (Wednesday), but it did not arrive."

According to its website, a Strategic Joint Venture Agreement was signed between Air Tanzania and Aerovista on 24th March 2012 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania whereby:
  • Aerovista would lease its B737-500 for Air Tanzania and will be sourcing more aircraft depending upon future requirements.
  • Aerovista Engineering and Air Tanzania Aircraft Maintenance Facility would join up to develop a fully fledged hanger with a line maintenance facility in Dar es salaam, Tanzania
  • Aerovista would take a lead in training the crew and engineers of Air Tanzania including cabin crew training for the B737CL aircraft.
  • Aerovista and Air Tanzania would work closely to develop routes and offer better commercial solutions for  improved yield management and operational results.
  • Aerovista with its new identity in Tanzania “Aerovista Tanzania Limited “ would explore similar avenues in the aviation industry to support the small and medium airline.
Efforts by The African Aviation Tribune to obtain further information from Air Tanzania were fruitless.
